Lancers wage war on Army Navy Defense

by Jason Blake

Despite the distractions throughout the week, the Lancer Football team remained focused on its task at hand remembering the disappointment that was still present after their last years homecoming fiasco. This year with renewed enthusiasm and a vow not to let that occur the Lancers stormed onto the field to face a much improved Army-Navy team. With many of their players leading the San Diego Section and Coastal League statistically they were not an opponent to be taken lightly.

Reminding Parker not to underestimate them, Army-Navy took their first drive down for a score and converted a two point conversion to take an early 8-0 lead. On the ensuing drive Parker quickly awakened and scored on a 13 yard scamper by their leading rusher Zach Pavel. With the intensity on defense increased the Lancers stopped Army Navy and responded with a Johnny Harari TD pass to Larry Ayers as the first quarter closed.

The Lancers continued to play strong defensively and held Army-Navy to 238 yards and two scores. While the Lancer offense provided no shortage of scoring as Pavel scored on a 3 yard TD, which opened up the floodgates. The scoring however was distributed amongst the team as Kit Barmeyer along with Preston Cavignac caught TD passes respectively and the RB's scored two more times to cap off the game.
