Francis Parker Lacrosse 2010 Captains' Letter

Dear Francis Parker Lacrosse Alumni,

As the captains of the 2010 Men’s Lacrosse team, we are excited to start this new tradition of writing a letter to previous players and alumni of the Francis Parker lacrosse team.

The three of us have been looking forward to the start of this season since we walked off the field at Cathedral Catholic High School last May. Warren, our junior captain, spearheaded the unofficial practices that began at the end of the football season.  Players that were not in a winter sport were encouraged to pick up their sticks and start getting back into the rhythm of things. These practices began after school with workouts in the weight room followed by shooting on the goalies and improving stick skills on the field. The start of the season began on Monday February 22, 2010, the very first day back from our Mid Winter Break. Our first game was on March 5 with a 6-2 win against Bonita Vista. Although we graduated 13 seniors last year we are ecstatic about the returning and new players. Our defense is looking solid returning four varsity players as well as our attack returning two of the three starters. Our midfield lost a few players, but those returning will step up and meet the challenge head on. Although we graduated a significant amount of players, other schools are in the same situation and we are looking to again be very competitive in the league.

The team’s record over the past 5 years was 9-7 (2005), 11-8 (2006)  4-11 (2007), 4-12 (2008) and last year was 12-5 (2009), the best that Parker has had; culminating with a return to the playoffs for the first time since 2006.  This year we will have a relatively small team; however, all of our players are very hard workers and are eager to make their presences known. We are very excited to get this season underway and are hoping to have the support from all of our fans and alumni of the Parker lacrosse team.
