Greetings Loyal Fans!

The Senior players and parents were honored this night: Carter Asmann, Mason Baldwin, Eric Carpenter, Jeff Lyon, Chase Olsson and Chase Stone. Their journey for life's education scatters them around the globe: Oregon, Southern Methodist, Loyola-Marymount, St.Andrews (Scotland), Pomona, and Fordham - respectively. We wish them well and hope that any lessons learned from the lacrosse experience will be tucked away in their duffle bags come this fall. You have graduated to fan status - so don't be strangers, visit frequently and communicate with your parents OFTEN! You will be missed!!

VARSITY Francis Parker 5 - Canyon Crest 11
Tonight's contest proved more difficult for Parker this round than the previous match-up. CC outscored us every period but the 4th = 1st: 0-1, 2nd: 2-4, 3rd: 1-3, 4th: 2-2. Seniors Chase Olsson and Eric Carpenter played aggressive games and stepped up to the scoring net, each with goals (Chase 2, Eric 1). The other goals were made by Warren Brody and Tyler Reed, with assists by Michael Avery (2), Eric Crispen and surprisingly, Keeper Thomas Bradley (go Tom!). He also had 11 saves for the day, which mirrored the Lancer's offense with 11 shots on goal. The Ravens gained face-off possession 15 of the 18 attempts. And the season ends. Rebuilding is always a slow and often painful process. Thanks to Coaches Dave, Sully and Navy Dave. Just hope you all had fun along the way. The Lancers will return next season with a new squad, new hopes and new dreams. Keep those sticks handy and practice throwing and catching with your buds often, ya hear?! Now renew your spirit, heal your body and enjoy the summer! That's all she wrote. .

JUNIOR VARSITY Francis Parker 6 - Canyon Crest 2
Parker trounced CC this time around, after losing to them in the previous contest. The first period ended scoreless on both sides. The Ravens scored first in the 2nd but the Lancers returned fire with 2 quick goal just before the half: John Volker and Andrew Greenberg, unassisted. The second half belonged to Parker, with 3 scores in the 3rd period: Colin Christopher (his first! Congrats!), John, assisted by Willy Avery, and Mitchell Dasteel. Augie Colachis shot the net 4th period to put the icing on the cake. Goalie Kevin Bower had 7 saves of 9 attempts. Good job KBo! Parker JV had a winning season with a record of 6 wins and 4 losses. Congratulations to players and Coaches Scott and Owen. You guys are awesome!! Keep up the skills, see you back next year! xox Mrs.B!

Greetings Lancer Fans!

It's disheartening when the only positive comment to be said about a contest is "at least nobody was hurt". No small feat, to be sure, as Parker's injury record on this campus is legendary. Purely put, in this match up, Parker was bushwhacked!

VARSITY Francis Parker  2 - Santa Fe Christian 16
Period 1 was encouraging as it ended with SFC 2 - Parker 1 with an unassisted goal by Michael Avery. The second period belonged to the Eagles as they scored 8 unanswered goals and the Lancer struggle to stay alive began. Period 3 proved slightly more progressive for Parker as Ryan Foote won the majority of face-offs and another goal (unassisted) was scored by Warren Brody. The Lancer defense, tired and bruised, finished strong allowing only 1 Eagle goal in the 4th period. Santa Fe Christian is the team to watch in the play-offs; they may go all the way.

JUNIOR VARSITY Francis Parker 5 - Santa Fe Christian 9
Plagued with heat, only one player substitute and a multitude of penalties (deserved or ?), the Lancer JV's proved their mettle. 4 - 2 at the end of the 1st period, goals were scored by John Volker and Adam Mardoum (his first of the season, right from his won face-off! Yeah!). Another goal by Parker, John again with an assist by Willy Avery and 2 scores by SFC ended the first half 6 - 3. Third period, 2 more points from our opponent and a Lancer score by Willy, unassisted. Parker scored first in the 4th, a repeat by Willy, but so did the Eagles to end the game. In spite of being "man down" (shorthanded) for 8 penalties, Parker defense held SFC to only one advantage goal. Great effort guys!!

May 1

Greetings Lancer Fans!

Whew! Parker pulled this one out but it took a grueling 4 OTs to finally end it, our favor. We were running out of water, running out of steam, tired as can be and all the shots seemed to hit the pipes. It was worth the wait and all the sweeter to snatch the victory after so much fight. The Lancer JV's waited patiently for their 5th quarter, cheering on the Varsity, to score their own victory with a goal by John Volker.

VARSITY Francis Parker 5 - Bishops 4
Parker scored first with an unassisted goal by Tyler Reed. Country Day followed suit with a minute and a half left in the 1st period to tie it up, 1-1. the second period went scoreless on both sides and so the half ended 1-1. The Torreys scored first in the 3rd period but the Lancers dominated the period after that scoring 3 unanswered goals: two by Michael Avery, one by Warren Brody, all unassisted. The period ended, Parker 4 - LJCD 2. The Torrey Team came on the field in the 4th determined to fight 'til the death (so to speak). They carried the momentum, scored the necessary tying goals to throw the game into overtime. And then again, and again, and again. . . It was Michael Avery who found gap to goal to clinch the win. Finally! Keeper Thomas Bradley had a terrific game, tending his saves 13 of 17 attempts. In spite of numerous Parker penalties (real or imagined) LJCD was only able to capitalize on one. Good defense Lancers: Jeremy Paluch, Malcolm McGregor, Mason Baldwin, Matt Wile & Tem Turner!! Ryan Foote made it happen with 10 of 15 face-off wins. Only 2 more games in regular season play. Go Lancers!!

April 25

Greetings Lancer Fans!

I feel the air electric! Didn't someone famous say that? It was felt Friday night, that tangible spark flashing between the players as they ran on and off the field, as they readied themselves on the sideline, as they slapped high-fives. The Mustang's were in Lancer Land for the rematch and we showed them, by golly, we showed them good!

VARSITY Francis Parker 10 - San Dieguito Academy 5
Parker drew first blood (don't take that literally) with an unassisted goal by Tyler Reed mid-way through the 1st period. Returned by SDA 2 minutes later, and a minute after that, Carter Asmann with an assist by Michael Avery put the score at 2 -1. The 'stangs came up barren in the 2nd period but not so Lancers with a score by Warren Brody ( solo) and Carter , assisted by Eric 'crispi' Crispen. Score at the half: 4 -1. Warren found the gap and scored again, unassisted, followed by a fast goal from SDA and a minute later, bam! - Crispi shoots a solo goal. A minute remaining and the Mustangs found their opening for a score. Clock is running down: 4, 3, 2, 1 score! Tyler from Warren. Scoreboard: 7 - 3. Ten seconds in the 4th period and Michael Avery puts one through the pipes with a pass from Warren. Mustangs answer. Tyler gives an answer back with a bullet shot all alone. Michael, my-heads-back-in-the-game Avery, not to be out done by his buds, scores his own solo goal with 5 minutes remaining to put the cherry on top. SDA scored again at 2 minutes but the deal was way done. Parker outshot, outplayed and outlasted with an awesome team effort: won 14 of 18 face-offs (Ryan Foote you rock), 23 of 28 clears (Parker defensive efforts handed SDA 11 failed clears), 21 shots on goal, 8 goalie saves (good job Thomas Bradley!) We match up against Bishops on Tuesday. GO LANCERS!

April 22

Greetings Sports Fans!

I don't know why the close games are the hardest to lose but that's the feeling. Just one more: ground ball/shot/clear/save and the scales would tip in our favor. We had them at 6 -6 but they eked out one more in the cage to send us home, 6 - 7. An interesting note: Canyon Crest has one designated face-off player who uses a special flattened-style pocket. He can cradle the ball front or back-sided as needed. He won 12 of the 16 face-offs.

VARSITY Francis Parker 6 - Canyon Crest 7
The Lancers scored first and early at the start with 2 goals, Eric Crispen and then Warren Brody, both unassisted. One goal and one save later, the period ended 2 - 1. The Ravens came back hustling, and scored from the face-off and twice more before Parker answered with 45 seconds remaining in the first half: Warren from Eric Carpenter. Once again, CC scored almost immediately from the starting face-off, and again 29 seconds from the face off. A little over 2 minutes remaining in the 3rd period and Warren scores again for the "hat trick", assisted by Michael Avery. Canyon Crest has the biggest lead so far with 6, Parker 4. The Lancers hang tough and catch the cage twice in a row, Eric Carpenter, solo, and Tyler Reed, also unassisted. Score: 6 - 6. In spite of Thomas Bradley's best efforts with 4 saves in the 4th, one lucky Raven ball hit the spot. The 3 shots on goal Crispi and Tyler got away were Raven goal saves and we went home with the loss. Some great defense going on with Jeremy Paluch, D-Middie and Malcolm McGregor, with his once again, most ground balls at 9. The teams match up again at our home on May 9. Be there for the exciting replay!

JUNIOR VARSITY Francis Parker 1 - Canyon Crest 2
This game was a sloooooow one as the Lancers and Ravens tipped-toed through the newly aerated field of tootsie roll dirt plugs, scooping and throwing the slugs with the ball as often as not. At least the holes weren't gopher-sized. . . Andrew Greenberg scored (unassisted) Parker's only goal in the 2nd period. Canyon Crest scored their 2 quick back-to-back goals in the 3rd period and that was that. The Lancers had 9 shots on goal, 30 ground balls and 14 of 16 clears. Tough loss - could definitely have been a Parker win. Next time!

April 17

Greetings!

Some things could just be half of the whole, and it would be just fine. Just half the taxes owed, half the calories in a slice of cheese cake, half the birthdays gone by, half the game against Santa Fe Christian. What started as a competitive first half slid into a wide margin defeat for Parker but the score doesn't indicate the tough play the Lancers gave defensively.

VARSITY Francis Parker 3 - Santa Fe Christian 15
After the first stunning goal in 8 seconds by the Eagles, Parker settled down to play decent lacrosse against a highly competitive team. Andrew Greenberg scored first for the Lancers, followed by Eric Crispen, assisted by Chase Olsson. The first period ended SFC 4, Parker 2. Tyler Reed scored solo in the second period which ended SFC on top by 4. Defenseman Malcolm McGregor topped the groundball score (again!) as Lancer defense made some great moves and took some hard hits but the Eagles were not to be denied and knew just where to hit on the cage as 22 shots rained on goalie Thomas Bradley. Stuff nightmares are made of. No Parker goals in the second half but the Eagles scored 6 quick ones in the 3rd period and by the 4th period we were in a "running clock" situation. Tough game all around. Go Lancers! We're there for you! Mrs. B

April 15

Greeting, Lancer Fans!

Three cheers for Parker lacrosse as they notched a second win in their belts!

VARSITY Francis Parker 5 - La Jolla Country Day 2
Matched with similar team talent, the Lancers met their opponents with the intent to win, and win they did. Clearing at will (20 of 22 attempts), possessing the face offs (9 of 11 match ups, taken by Eric Carpenter & Ryan Foote) and scooping those ground balls (42 vs. 18) cleared the way for the offense to make those pretty shots. First score: Chase Olsson unassisted in the first period. Second period scoring went: Warren Brody from Carter Asmann, Eric Crispen from Tyler Reed, and Ryan Foote, solo. Third period had Warren putting it between the pipes with an assist by Jeremy Paluch. Ground ball kings were Chase, Crispi and Malcolm McGregor. Still no score from LJCD. Thomas Bradley almost had a shut out, making 7 of 8 saves. It was time to give our JV some much needed field experience so substitutions were made and the Torreys were able to put 1 goal on the scoreboard in the last 3 minutes of play. All in all - great job, Lancers! You rock.

April 10

Greetings Lancer Lovers,

The Bishops' varsity contests tend to be overly stressful at best: major rivals, loud fans, history of struggles and rough play. This night proved no less.

VARSITY Francis Parker 6 - Bishops 13
Studying the stats and the usual opponent comparisons did not show total domination by the Knights. Almost dead even were ground balls and face-offs. What did stand out was time of possession and accuracy, 27 of Bishops 30 shots were on goal. Parker was totally shut out in the first period as the Knights racked up 5 goals, 2 from face offs in under 25 seconds. The coaches must have unleashed the cattle prod because the Lancers came back to own the 2nd period scoring 4 goals: Tyler Reed, 2; Eric Crispen, 1; Warren Brody, 1; and 2 assists by Chase Olsson. Bishops was not to be denied and put 2 more goals on the board. 7-4 at the half. Parker scored first in the 3rd and 5 minutes ticked by before the Knights found the pipe opening but then it was 4 fast scores from the face offs and the score was 11-5. Two more goals by Bishops and one by Parker, Crispen unassisted and the game was over. #2, Connor Thomas, is the opponent to watch with 5 goals & 1 assist. The teams match up again at Bishops on 4/29.

JUNIOR VARSITY Francis Parker 2 - Bishops 4
This contest was exciting, especially, I imagine, from the gopher's perspective. Both teams scored in the 1st period, under one minute: Bishops at 16 seconds, Parker at 4 with an unassisted goal by hot shot Andrew Greenberg. The Knights were able to score again in the 2nd period with the numbers at 1-2 at the half. No scoring in the 3rd period (no shots on goal by either side) and the 4th period started out slow. Forty-four seconds left and Bishops popped one between the pipes. Twenty-two seconds later: Andrew finds the opening again, score 2-3. The scale couldn't tip in Parker's favor as Bishops put it away with a final goal in eleven seconds to end the game. Accuracy on goal was a huge factor, with the Knights on goal 9 of 15, compared to the Lancers 4 of 15. Be there for the rematch on Parker's field, 5/5 at 5:30.

April 5

Greetings Lancer Fans!

They came on Saturay, those Patriots, with thoughts of "piece of cake" win, having soundly trounced both Valhalla and San Dieguito, loses Parker incurred in previous match-ups. Not so, as the Lancers played the most solid game of their season and forced PHHS to reevaluate.

VARSITY Francis Parker 8 - Patrick Henry 10
High noon, breezy, not too sunny, not too cold, home advantage - it was a great day for Parker lacrosse. Patrick Henry scored first but was answered a minute later, Michael Avery from Tyler Reed, to end the 1st period: 1- 1. Second period had the Patriots scoring first again followed 30 seconds later with a solo goal by Tyler. Uh-oh, 3 fast goals by PHHS but Parker ended the half with another Tyler goal, assisted by Carter Asmann, 5 - 3 Patriots. The green and white came out third period with the idea of putting this game away. Three goals later in under 6 minutes left Parker reeling. Tyler, having discovered the secrets of the cage, put 2 more through the pipes, assisted by Eric Crispen and Augie, first-assist-at-Varsity Colachis. Crispi scored a minute after Tyler's first of the 2, with an assist by Warren Brody. Darn, with 30 seconds remaining in the period, the Pats scored making it PHHS: 9 - 6. Fourth period, the final push, Chase Olsson scores in the first minute with an assist by Crispi. Ooooo, within 2! Urrrgh! Patrick Henry answers back. Three thiry-three left in the game: Chase scores, unassisted! **sigh** That's all she wrote, the fat lady sang.

The most important games of the season - league games - are on the horizon. Go Lancers!!

April 1

VARSITY Francis Parker 2 - Scripps Ranch 7
The cool weather Tuesday night didn't help the dedicated Parker fans as they witnessed the teams frustrating attempts to move the ball. Scripps Ranch didn't suffer any fools as they out shot Parker, on goal,, 14 to 6 times. Eric Crispen put the ball in the cage both times, unassisted, (good shootin') for Parker's only scores. The Lancers were improved on the face offs, winning 7 of 13 and cleared with possession 11 of 17 attempts. Defense played a tough, tiring, game with Jon Lee moving up to varsity for subbing. They improved their ground ball scoops with long poles Jeremy Paluch and Malcolm McGregor with 7 gb's each. Good hustle! Tough to keep energy high when the roster numbers just aren't there - the Falcons played with 8 more varsity players. On to the next days' play guys, chins up, give it 100% and you'll always come out a winner.

JR. VARSITY Francis Parker 6 - Scripps Ranch 13
Bigger and more of 'em ( 10 more!), the Scripps' Falcons handed the Lancers their first loss of the season. Playing with only 13 team mates (11 on the field at all times), Parker did their tired best. Scripps was able to shoot 20 times on goal (32 attempts) to Parker's 7 (10 attempts). Clearly, when the Lancer's could penetrate the Falcon defense they were on target. At the mid break, it was Scripps 5, Parker 3. Fatigue and frustration followed in the second half and the Falcons pretty much scored at will. Our scoring heroes were Warren Brody and John Volker with 2 goals each, and Chase Stone and Andrew Greenberg with 1 goal each. Andrew also topped the ground ball stats. So we take the loss with heads held high and free of shame. Field time experience is what makes strong players so hang in there and have fun!

March 20

VARSITY Francis Parker 4 - Valhalla 10
The night was cool and clear as we headed east to Valhalla Land. Spring Break was to start the following day so perhaps the boys didn't have on their "game heads" as the Norsemen handed the Lancers another loss. Down by 3 at the half, (1-4: Eric Crispen, unassisted) Parker scored twice in the 3rd, both by Michael Avery with assists by Chase Olsson and Crispi, only to be answered with Valhalla's 2. The Norsemen hit cage 4 times in the 4th to Lancer's 1: (Michael again, unassisted). Jeremy Paluch was king of the ground balls with his D-pole at 10. The ball was cleared 16 times but Parker gave up possession 13 times on their offensive side with failed clears. Additional stats: Parker ground balls: 43, Valhalla: 29; Parker shots on goal:7, Valhalla: 20, Parker saves: 10 of 20, Valhalla: 3 of 7. Maybe a break from school and lacrosse is just what the doctor ordered. April is a new beginning.

March 13

It's always intimidating to step off the Parker bus on enemy soil and confront a large public school with a huge stadium, dedicated to their lacrosse team, replete with banners urging victory over their opponent. In this case, us. Intimidation aside, the players, fans and parents were courteous, welcoming and gracious hosts. Inspite of the late evening, parents stayed to bbq and feed our hungry boys post game. Other teams could benefit from San Marcos' lesson in good sportsmanship. Bravo!

VARSITY Francis Parker 6 - San Marcos 7
An entirely different team showed up today from last week's disappointing play. This game was an exciting struggle between two well-matched teams vying to stay on top. The Knights managed the winning goal in the last 3 minutes, but prior to that, it was see saw, back and forth goals: 1st period - Chase Olsson, unassisted, answered 4 minutes later by the Knights: 1 - 1. 2nd period - Ben Piacquadio from Eric Crispen, and Michael Avery from defensemen Matt Wile, Knights scored 3, and were up by one at the half: 4 - 3. 3rd period - Eric from Chase, and Eric solo to end the period up for Parker: 5 - 4. 4th period - San Marcos scored two quick goals, then Parker tied it up with seven minutes remaining, Tyler Reed from Eric. That was all the scoring to be had from the Lancers. Clears were excellent, Parker crossed the mid-line for possession 14 of 16 attempts. Keeper Thomas Bradley saved 10 of 17 shots on goal. Nice! Go Lancers!

March 11

Hello Sports Fans!

I don't know what caused the Lancer's first half lethargy, the bright sun, the dirt field, but it took 24 minutes of playing time before Parker began playing their game. Through a series of missed ground balls, failed clears, lost face-offs, failure to catch the ball or block goals, our boys found themselves down the first half: 10 - 2. A miserable start to our first league game by anyone's standards. The frustration was a tangible ghost, causing balls to mysteriously fall out of the pocket or block the shot to fall short of the goal. The second half performance was much improved with Parker facing San Dieguito's sub goalie (and many of their first year players) scoring 5 goals, 2 unanswered in the 4th quarter. This was the Mustangs first game, and it was at home, and they canceled their JV season so all those players were available for field time. We'll find out how we really match up when we meet again, on our field, at our time. Go Lancers!

VARSITY Francis Parker 7 - San Dieguito 13
San Dieguito scored 6 goals in the first period, 4 of them in the first five minutes. Eric Crispen responded with a goal and a minute later, Ryan Foote added his score, both assisted by Michael Avery to have the score read 6-2. The Mustangs bombed the cage with an additional 4 goals in the 2nd period, unanswered by the Lancers. Parker added 3 goals in the 3rd: Ben Piacquadio from Michael, Michael from Chase Olsson, and Chase unassisted, only to be answered with 3 goals scored by SD. Final scoring in the 4th: Tyler Reed and Michael, both solo goals. In spite of the tension, Parker kept the penalties to only 2, admirable sportsmanship.

Sometimes it hurts to be a critic, hope I don't sound too harsh. I love you guys!

Mrs. B

March 7

It's always difficult to summarize a game loss, more so when the score is so heavily weighted in favor of the opponent. Theories on why and how abound but I won't give print to them here. Let's just say there were way too many penalties on the Parker side and not enough players for worthy substitutions. Parker got tired.

On the brighter side, Parker's JV took Grossmont to the cleaners!

VARSITY Francis Parker - 4 Grossmont - 11
The Lancers had 12 shots on goal but Grossmont's excellent goal tending allowed only 4 through the pipes. Scoring: Eric Carpenter from Tyler Reed in the 1st, Michael Avery alone in the 2nd, Eric Crispen and Ben Piacquadio in the 3rd with an assist from Warren Brody. Parker had 8 1/2 minutes total in penalties; though the Foothillers did not capitalize on man-up (good job, Defense!) it tired our already overworked "long poles". The entire Parker team picked up a good share of the ground balls but the failed attempts to clear the mid-line to our offense and failed face-offs left our offense few attempts to play our game effectively. It's hard to lose at home but we love playing on our field and we sure do appreciate the fan support and the great job our "stats" parents are doing at the table (Christie Long, mom of Eric Carpenter, & Lauren Bradley, mom of Thomas) Thanks for being there!

JR. VARSITY Francis Parker - 9 Grossmont -1
Parker's John Volker & Augie Colachis each had a hat-trick (3 goals) Scoring: 2 goals in the first quarter: Augie Colachis from John Volker, and Andrew Greenberg solo (his first rookie goal, congratulations!) , 1 goal in the 2nd quarter: John from Willy Avery, 2 goals in the 3rd quarter: Willy from John, and Augie unassisted. Grossmont scored a goal in the 2nd quarter but couldn't find the net after that. The Lancers put the Foothillers away for sure in the 4th quarter with 4 additional scores: John from Augie, twice, Augie and Andrew one each unassisted. Great job offense! The Lancers capitalized on Grossmont's penalties, scoring 3 of 5. Clearing (going from defense to offense over the mid line) was excellent. Great job Defense - goalie Kevin Bower was 4 for 5 on saves and Parker gave up only one goal. Sweet!

I've been asked to include an F.Y.I. or F.A.Q. or Inquiring Minds Want To Know or Everything You Wanted To Know About Lacrosse But Were Afraid To Ask. The question posed for me today:Why is the scoreboard used only for scoring and not for timing the game?

In a nutshell: it's too complicated for most parttimers to run, and the controls are on the opposite side of the field from the Omnipotent Stats Table. We use a special hand-held clock which makes it easy to walk the sideline, informing the referees and coaches of the appropriate time left. We can also coordinate better with timed penalties, which the refs are required to announce to recorders at the table.

Thank you for your time and support of Parker Lacrosse and especially for our boys!

Fondly,
Mrs. B

March 5

I feel so grown-up when I order at Starbucks (Grande Soy Chai, 3 pumps, no water, extra hot). At 5:30 AM, I am a viable member of the adult work force. But something happens to that maturity when I hit the lacrosse sideline. Suddenly I am transported to my high school days (daze?) and I find myself jumping up and down, heart racing, adrenelain pumping. I feel the energy gushing out from the players' every pore and I am 16 again. What a rush!

Varsity: Parker 9 - Santana 4
And what a rush it was to win our first game of the season! Santana lead the scoring only once and that was the first score of the game. Two minutes later Parker responded with a goal by Eric Crispen, another two minutes later Michael Avery scored from Carter Asmann to take the lead which Parker never relinquished. Michael lead the scoring with a 6!! goals and 1 assist. Chase Olsson contributed 1 goal, 2 assists, and both Eric Crispen & Carter had 1 goal, 1 assist. Goalie Thomas Bradley (last year's JV rookie) was impressive with 10 od 14 saves. The defense was able to keep Santana to only one goal for their five extra-man attempts. Parker's face-off men, Eric Carpenter & Ryan Foote, took the better possession with 9 of 15 attempts. A good, solid, first win under the lights! Congratulations, well done!

Jr. Varsity: Parker 10 - Santana 6
What a good, fresh beginning for our fresh, new lacrosse Lancers. Scoring by quarter: Santana had 1 goal in the 1st, 1 in the 3rd and 4 in the 4th period. Parkers' goals were scored 3 in the 2nd, 3 in the 3rd and 4 in the 4th. It was a scoring frenzy! Augie Colachis and John Volker tore up the field with 3 goals and 1 assist each, Willy Avery led the scoring points with 2 goals and 4 assists. Not to be out done, Mitchell Dasteel put it through the posts twice unassisted. Our face-off men, Adam Mardoum and Mitch, won 14 of 20 attempts to gain the Lancers the coveted possession. Penalties were kept to merely 2, exceptional for rookie play. Great job Lancers!

Yours in LAX,
Mrs. B

February 28

Greetings and Welcome to Parker Lacrosse, 2008!

Spring, to me, is not the first robin sighting or sprouting tulips, but the clank of sticks and shouts of "scoop through the ball" "keep your head on a swivel" "don't ball watch" "who's hot"(??!). It's lacrosse time, ladies and gentlemen, and spring has sprung!

I am a Parker lacrosse addict, as evidenced by my volunteer commitment to the team long after my son's graduation from these hallowed fields (Brennar, #3 Defense, 2003-2006). I wish to invite any of you wanting to be more involved in the team to join me at the scoring/timing table. You, too, can learn first-hand all about ground balls, clears, man-up and face-offs. It's the best seat on the field to get close-up and personal. I'm truly willing to share!

We now have our first scrimmage notched on our sticks and will begin the official game season on Tuesday, 3/4 (JV 3:30 Dusty Rhodes, V 6:00 Parker vs. Santana).

Our opponents from La Costa Canyon (those talented, experienced, numerous (40?), public school boys) hale from one of the best programs in the county. All our boys who suited up (27) experienced the rush of field time. Ground balls were scooped by Willy Avery (4), Chase Olsson (3); Ryan Foote, Ben Piacquadio and Matt Wile (2), Michael Avery, Tyler Reed, Mitchell Dasteel, Warren Brody & Colin Christopher with (1) each. Shooting opportunities weren't taken very often but shots were made by Senior, Chase (2) and Freshman, Warren (1). We had no official scoring on Parker's side but Chase put one in the net which was discounted due to an offsides. LCC scored several goals but our novice goalies, Thomas Bradley (11th) and Kevin Bower (9th) had 4 and 2 saves respectively. A nice start against LCC's high caliber team.

I was pleased to see the skill and heart from all our rookies. Welcome! Practices do not prepare the player (or rookie parents!) for the fast paced intensity that is Men's' Lacrosse. I enjoy going among the players after their first opponent/field experience. "Man, that was awesome!" Sigh. Yeah, spring is here.

Fondly,
Mrs. B
